A new blog for Heart of Gold

We’ve just added a shiny new WordPress blog to the Heart of Gold website. The brand’s been receiving some great press recently – and they’ve now got an easy-to-use tool to keep on top of it all.

I love the graphic and sound design on show here. is an interactive touchscreen installation designed for teaching children through fairy tales. The installation is specifically focused on improving social skills and imagination for 5-6 year olds.

It also helps the youngsters with basic skills like reading and writing. It’s playful, interactive and entertaining – everything good digital creative should be.

New York invasion by 8-bit creatures

PIXELS is Patrick Jean’s latest short film, shot on location in New York. The craft and attention to detail on show here is inspiring. I’m particularly fond of the retro arcade game references. ZX Spectrum-tastic…

We’ve just read, via Slash Film, that Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison maybe making the short into a feature film with Sony.

“THR reports that, as Happy Madison has a first-look deal with Sony, that is where this odyssey begins. There isn’t yet a writer set for the project, but the idea is to make “a Ghostbusters-style action comedy in which characters come out of a video game to wreak havoc in the real world.”

PHP UK Conference

I went to this year’s PHP conference in London at the Business Design Centre. Approximately 450 people attended from various backgrounds – Developers, consultants and team managers. The conference was sponsored by Microsoft WebsiteSpark, PayPal X developer network and Facebook. Other companies that attended included ibuildings, TEK systems, O’Reilly’s amongst others.
