The drinks are on Facebook
The off-licence group behind Threshers is partnering a new Facebook application which allows people to buy their friends real, rather than virtual drinks. The application works by allowing users to select a drink for a friend, pay for it through Facebooks Google checkout system, then a hard copy of the voucher is posted to the recipients house for them to redeem in any local store.
The application is called GetThemIn and was created by a Scottish based company called Freak Marketing.
GetThemIn has teamed up with First Quench covering around 1,500 stores across its Threshers, The Local, and Wine Rack outlets. Brands that have signed up to the scheme include Heineken, Fosters, Blossom Hill, and Teachers with Maltesers, Doritios, and Walkers also getting in on the action.
The application has been developed alongside responsible drinking body DrinkAware to ensure the application is only accessible to people over 18 years of age. Around 85% of Facebook users are 18 years old and above.
Yet another example of clever marketing using the world’s biggest social networking site.
