The Web and the city

This video from TED.com is a tad New York focused, but it’s got some good insights into where social communities on the web maybe heading over the next few years. It gets going after about six minutes…

“Outside.in’s Steven Johnson says the Web is like a city: built by many people, completely controlled by no one, intricately interconnected and yet functioning as many independent parts. While disaster strikes in one place, elsewhere, life goes on”.

ORBS in the news

ITV Central News have been really supportive of the exhibition and calendar launch for ORBS (oncoplastic reconstructive breast surgery).

Show-stopping success!

Last night saw the launch of a project that’s close to our hearts.

It was a few months ago that Sally White (lead fundraiser and the driving force behind ORBS) had the idea of creating a unique calendar. The target was to use the calendar to raise much-needed funds for a research nurse at The Nottingham Breast Institute.

Future interfaces

It’s always interesting to see new ways in which technology is interacting with the user. I recently read an article on Smashing Magazine which showcases ten new pieces of technology all of which look very futuristic, in both the way they interact and in their overall appearance.
