Comedian Russell Brand has yet again caused major controversy with his outspoken silver tongue, this time at the MTV Video Music Awards where he insulted the US President and other household American names.
His eccentric English comedy whilst offending a nation of American viewers had the reverse effect on MTV bosses as they saw ratings increase by 20% on last year and attracted over 4,500 user comments to their website.
This increase in ratings both online and on TV has resulted in MTV booking Russell for next years show already.
Whilst the majority of the web comments were negative MTV have clearly capitalised on the old saying ‘bad news is good news’ and thanks to Mr Brands outspoken comedy genius MTV can thank him for generating a giant spike in awareness for the MTV brand.
